How to Support Your Congregation

Our community center serves as a hub to serve the physical, social, and spiritual needs of our members and the surrounding community. We have been blessed with many physical resources which enable us to serve one another and be a blessing to so many lives. The good stewardship of our founding generations is to be credited for allowing us to have our own building and two adjacent homes. In order to maintain and grow our community, our membership provides consistent financial support in the form of tithes and offerings.

A serious commitment to the biblical tithe model by our core members has been critical to funding our physical and staff needs. Our trustees provide a yearly budget which serves to finance the minimal expenses of the synagogue community. The best way for us to ensure that our monthly income budget is met is to request a monthly financial commitment from our members. Each year our members complete a membership form and indicate, based on their home budget, how much they intend to contribute each month. This ensures a reliable cash flow for our regular financial needs.

We believe that this is more than a practical matter, but a spiritual discipline. Many of us have experienced that regular giving toward Hashem’s work plants seeds of prosperity in our own lives. Many scriptures point us to the divine imperatives in this matter: Gen. 14:19, Gen. 28:20, Malachi 3:7, Haggai 1:4, Mark 12:41, Gal. 6:6, 2 Corinth 9:6, and others.

We understand that some individuals and families are under significant financial pressures. We will never withhold membership or community services from those who join us. For those struggling, we encourage giving even a “widow’s mite” each month as a matter of keeping with the spiritual practice. As an alternative, we welcome volunteers to help with our various projects as they devote their time to furthering the endeavors of our community.
